QUESTIONS
Can I buy generic brand prescriptions even though my doctor prescribed me a brand name medication?
Absolutely! Because they contain the same active ingredient and dose, they will work in the same way. Generic brand medications are manufactured with the same high quality that the original brands are. Generic medicines can only be sold in Australia if they meet the same strict standards of quality, safety and effectiveness as the original. If you are still unsure, our friendly pharmacists will be happy to explain further about generic medications

What is the pharmaceutical safety net?
Once you and your family spends a certain amount on PBS medications in a calendar year, you will reach the PBS Safety Net Threshold. This means that once you reach your limit, your medications will be at a discounted price, that is, free for concessional patients and $6.60 for general patients. Please keep in mind we do not keep a record of your medication dispensing history if you go to a different pharmacy, so you may reach your safety net limit without realising it!
